In the Duke Gallery: Summer Fellow
6/17 to 7/14
The Community Arts Center Summer Fellow Program seeks to create a deep connection between teaching artists and the summer programming at the CAC. Fellows engage with the Arts Center community in two
ways:
EXHIBITION:
Fellows participate in a solo or multi person exhibition in the Duke Gallery, the 3,000 square foot main gallery at the CAC.
COLLABORATIVE PROJECT:
Fellows facilitate a special project with children going into grades kindergarten thru 6th grade in the fall, who are enrolled in the Community Arts Center’s Summer Spree art camp. The theme of the camp this year is Magic Makers. Each Fellow’s project is a single session in duration. Sessions are 1 week long and occur between June 26 and August 18. Fellows will work with students between 9 am and 12 noon each weekday to create a collaborative project that may be site specic. Fellows meet with multiple groups of 6-12 students each, grouped by age. Each group typically meets with the Fellow two times during the week for approximately 45 minutes each time. In total, Fellows typically work with 60-80 students during the course of the week.
