ARTIST STATEMENT:
Beethoven once said that “Music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life.” I very much believe this and my photographic work is inspired by this idea. I approach photography with a fearlessness behind the camera and a passion for my subjects and what I create. I am attempting to illuminate truth in what I see as it’s most beautiful forms; in music and art together. In live action rock photography, I have but a fleeting moment to find that very second where the Musician forgets about the performance and becomes the music. Photographer, Henrie Cartier-Bresson referred to this way of photographing as capturing ‘the decisive moment’. And this, at it’s core, is what my work is all about. I am attempting , in this show, to elevate music photography to a fine art level.
