6/15 - 8/29
This is an exhibition of the work of Matiko Mamaladze’s drawing and painting students.
Matiko teach’s a Monday morning drawing class, Learn to Draw What You See and a Friday morning oil painting class, Concur the Palette in our Fall, Winter and Spring semesters here at the CAC.
On the pedestals in the stairwell are the works of our Saturday Teen wheel class taught by Jessica Leis.
Saturday afternoon teen wheel class is an eclectic group of individuals with unique styles and points of views. The widest age range among any teen classes, they have coalesced into a supportive and inspiring creative community. Their work reflects the dedication and commitment they have to learning the difficult craft of wheel throwing with the lightheartedness of coming together on a Saturday afternoon to make art. They laugh, they share stories, they collaborate on projects. Building from their thrown forms, then altering and decorating with equal parts skill and whimsy, botanical and mystical. Inspired by nature, we see fish and smiling suns, fireflies and mushrooms. They play with glazes and glass. The work they create has destinations in mind: parents, friends, teachers and siblings. They make things for the joy of creating stronger personal, meaningful connections.
Jessica teach’s an inter generational class on Monday’s in our Fall, Winter and Spring Semesters where teens can attend and a Saturday afternoon class for teens every semester.
