Chester Charter School for the Arts
CCSA is an arts integrated K – 8 school located in Aston PA. The Community Arts Center facilitates an artist-in-residence program that brings in professional artists to work with CCSA students on special projects. Recent artists-in-residence have been mosaic artist David Woods, ceramic artist Andrea Mogck and comic book artist and filmmaker, Desire Grover. We have also invited music group Simple Gifts and renowned percussionist Doc Gibbs perform for their students.
South Media Fire Company
Beginning in 2013, the Community Arts Center began an after school art program in partnership with the fire station that focuses on collaborative, community-based art projects. Students in grades 3-5 from the Wallingford Elementary School that live in the South Media neighborhood meet once a week after school to create artworks such as mosaic stepping stones for their school’s garden and a mural for the fire station. The best thing about this program is that the kids get to use an empty fire truck bay as an art studio!
