Iman Roder is a glass artist and special education art teacher at Elwyn’s Davidson School in Media, Pa. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. He majored in ceramics and glass and also received his art teaching certification from Tyler as well as his special education teaching certification as a graduate student at Temple University. He strongly believes the visual arts are an essential educational and expressive tool for individuals with special needs, especially those on the autism spectrum. This is a belief that he learned not only through his training but from his mother, who was a special education teacher and therapist who studied in Switzerland. The arts (in all forms) were the foundation of the special education school which she attended there. As an artist he has exhibited and sold his fused glass art work in galleries and art festivals primarily in the Philadelphia area over the past 10 years.
